Memorial show benefits Brain Tumour Research
This Friday and Saturday’s memorial show up at the Church Hill Theatre for Jenny Hogg had raised over £13,500 for Brain Tumour Research by the time funds were counted after the final curtain.
According to organisers, this amount is likely to rise as further pledges come in over the week.
Jenny was a passionate supporter of Edinburgh’s amateur musicals scene. She died in March this year, aged just 33, of a brain tumour. Her parents, Irene and Alan Hogg, were inspired to set up the benefit after attending a similar charity concert in aid of Leukaemia research.
In his review of Friday night’s show, Hugh Simpson provided a strong impression of the evening, but warned: “With so many talents on show, it is not possible to list all the evening’s highlights”.
Mark Gorman was at the dress rehearsal with his camera and has passed on these shots to show a few more.
Some are a bit more arty than others!
The evening featured numbers from shows staged by Forth Children’s Theatre and Tempo over the years.

Not everyone who wanted to be at the shows was able to make it. Anyone who would like to make a donation to Brain Tumour Research in memory of Jenny is very welcome to use Alan Hogg’s Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/Alan-Hogg/.
According to all reports, Saturday evening’s performance was of an even higher quality than Friday evening’s.
Heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved. Besides the tremendous fundraising effort, it was a fitting celebration of Jenny’s life.
