Key titles and archive plays on offer

By Thom Dibdin

The Traverse theatre has opened its script sale up to the general public for the first time, meaning that dozens of modern scottish texts are available to buy from just £1.

The theatre’s box office sells playscripts of all plays produced by the Traverse Theatre Company at £4 each. Fully three dozen of these are now in the sale which, on previous occasions, has only been open to students.

Jenn Deane, Traverse Box Office manager, told the Annals: “Along with key titles from the Traverse cannon, we’re excited to offer a small selection of plays hand-picked from the archive. Orla O’Loughlin has kindly donated these from her personal collection and there are some real gems to be found.”

Among the discounted scripts are recent works by playwrights ranging from Aileen Ritchie to Zinnie Harris and Henry Adam to Wang Xiaoli – in alphabetical terms. It includes hits such as David Greig’s Midsummer, Gregory Burke’s Gagarin Way and Iain Crichton Smith’s Lazybed.

The rarer titles are not discounted, but the gems include Micael Tremblay’s evocative A Full Moon In Summer, David Greig’s hit for a younger audience Danny 306 (+me 4 ever) and Linda McLean’s Shimmer.

The sale ends on Saturday 20 April, the closing day of Quiz Show.
