Indoor capacity regs to go from Monday
Scotland is to remove all limits on indoor gatherings in public spaces, imposed because of the Omicron variant of Covid, from Monday 24 January 2022.

The King’s panto Sleeping Beauty and Scottish Ballet’s The Nutcracker at the Festival Theatre will close on Christmas Eve, cancelling all remaining performances, as Nicola Sturgeon limits theatre audiences to 200 and re-imposes one metre social distancing.

Edinburgh’s theatres are facing the real prospect of being able re-open, after the Scottish Government amended its roadmap out of Covid, so it will now remove all physical distancing measures from Monday August 9 2021.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society has announced that the first tickets for EdFringe 2021 will go on sale on Thursday 1 July and that it will be a hybrid event, with three levels of performance.

Theatres will be allowed to reopen, albeit with strict social distancing requirements and limited audiences, from Monday May 17 2021 as most of Scotland moves into Level 2 of Covid lockdown.
