A Spark of Philosophy
Muriel Spark at the Book Festival:
This year’s Book Festival has featured several events designed to appeal to the theatre-goer which cross over with the strand celebrating the centenary of the birth of Edinburgh’s own Muriel Spark.
PPP: Ding-Dong (A Bit of a Farce)
★★☆☆☆ Slight
The first offering in the new series of A Play, A Pie and A Pint at the Traverse, has its heart in the right place and provides some laughs, but ultimately fails to convince either as a farce or as a more conventional comedy.
PPP Billy (The Days of Howling)
★★★★☆ Heart-rending:
With a whisper of snow and the haunting of an idea, the latest instalment of A Play, A Pie and a Pint spins in and out of the Traverse leaving a rare desolation in its wake.
