The Song of Fergus and Kate
★★★☆☆ Appealing
Watch This Space Productions’ The Song of Fergus and Kate at the Gilded Balloon Wine Bar in Teviot is an agreeable miniature, not always thought through but full of endearing moments.
Birds of Passage in the Half Light by Kat Woods
★★★☆☆ Harrowing
Birds of Passage in the Half Light, a one-hander by Kat Woods and performed by Fiona McGeown, deals with trauma and darkness. The presentation is uneven at times, but it draws the audience in.
The Intervention
★★★☆☆ Support required
The Intervention, by Watch This Space Productions and Gilded Balloon, playing the Billiard Room in Teviot all Fringe, is a black comedy where two friends meet after not seeing each other for two years.
The Return of Sherlock Holmes
★★★★☆ Genuine
The Return of Sherlock Holmes is an enjoyable and convincing entertainment at Gilded Balloon Teviot and another convincing literary adaptation from Nigel Miles-Thomas and Fringe Management.
Black is the Color of My Voice
★★★★☆ Spellbinding:
Apphia Campbell triumphs in Black is the Color of My Voice at Gilded Balloon Teviot. A riveting show inspired by the life and music of Nina Simone and featuring songs such as I Put a Spell On You and Feeling Good.
Woke
★★★★☆ Mesmerising:
Returning to the fringe for just six performances at the Gilded Balloon Teviot, Apphia Campbell’s Woke is a powerful one woman show that tells the story of two women 42 years apart.
Of Mice And Men
★★★★☆ Tragic triumph:
Of Mice and Men, in the Gilded Balloon Teviot Wine Bar, benefits from one fine performance and one exceptional one.
