Theatres and events respond to physical distancing news
The announcement in Holyrood on Tuesday that, if all goes according to plan, physical distancing will be completely lifted on Monday 9 August 2021 has been welcomed by Edinburgh’s theatres and events organisers.

Edinburgh’s theatres are facing the real prospect of being able re-open, after the Scottish Government amended its roadmap out of Covid, so it will now remove all physical distancing measures from Monday August 9 2021.

The Edinburgh International Festival has announced its full programme of events for 2021, which will include theatre at the Traverse and Lyceum, opera at the Festival Theatre and a free opening event at the Botanics.

Theatres will be allowed to reopen, albeit with strict social distancing requirements and limited audiences, from Monday May 17 2021 as most of Scotland moves into Level 2 of Covid lockdown.
