Seven date Scottish tour to finish in Edinburgh

Susan Boyle is to return to Edinburgh’s Festival Theatre on her first ever live tour in July. The Blackburn-born runner-up of Britain’s Got Talent 2009 will play two dates at the theatre on Friday 12 and Saturday 13.

The exclusive seven night tour brings Susan back to the Festival Theare where she appeared last September during performances of the show I Dreamed A Dream, the musical about the international singing star’s life.

Speaking of the upcoming tour, Susan said; “I’m really looking forward to getting on stage and singing with my own band for an entire show. This is the year that I feel that I would be able to give an audience what they want. I’ve always wanted to do my own show and now I feel confident enough to give it a go.”

Although Susan appeared on stage at the finale of select performances of I Dreamed A Dream, singing the song from Les Misérables which drove her to fame, she was portayed on stage by Elaine C Smith.

Charting Susan’s climb from humble beginnings in Blackburn to the standing ovation at her audition for Britain’s Got Talent, and on to her global superstardom, I Dreamed A Dream featured many of the hit songs from Susan’s multi-platinum selling albums.

Now, audiences across Scotland will be able to see Susan singing them herself. Beside the inevitable I Dreamed A Dream, the show is expected to include numbers such as Wild Horses and Somewhere Over the Rainbow as well as River Deep, Mountain High, one of her all time favourites, together with surprises on the night.

If this works… 2014 will be a global tour

Susan added: “If this works well, then the world is my oyster and 2014 will be a global tour. I’ve chosen my favourite songs from past albums and also new songs that not only have I wanted to perform for years but resonate with me and I hope my fans will love. I wanted to begin in Scotland to say thank you for all the support I have been shown over the past few years. It feels right to begin another new experience in my home country.”

The tour will open in Inverness on July 2, going to Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow and ending in Edinburgh for Friday 12 / Saturday 13 July. Tickets go on sale on Friday 17 May 2013.
