Gin & Chronic seeks new work
Edinburgh-based Gin & Chronic Theatre Company, has put out an open call for play scripts with the loose theme of growth, to be developed for performance by the company.
The recently formed creative collective made its debut at this year’s fringe with a new production of Elegy for an Echo. It is looking for work of between 30 minutes and two hours in performance length. Deadline for submission of scripts is November 30 2017.
The company says it is looking to find original work which fits the given theme of Growth – a theme which can be interpreted in any way by the writer, – with potential for development towards production.
It says in a statement: “In line with the ethos of the company, our script submission project will aim to nurture emerging artists, engage with writers, educate company members and associates, facilitate the acquiring of new skills for all involved and create work which reflects the ever-changing world around us.”
Submission guidelines
Original work which fits the given theme of ‘Growth’.
Either: A completed work for stage; Or: An excerpt from an unfinished piece (minimum of 20 minutes long), accompanied by a clear and detailed plan of the rest of the play.
Running Time. Pieces with completed running time of between 30 minutes – 120 minutes.
Play script. The company is not looking for musicals, screenplays, translations of existing work or pieces in a language other than English.
New work. The company add: “At this point we are excited by the prospect of developing new work which has not already been produced or performed.”
Submission process:
Deadline: The submission window for scripts will close at 5pm on Thursday 30th November, 2017.

Format: All submissions should be in Microsoft Word Document or PDF format, tidily formatted (double spacing preferred), and in 12pt font. Pages should be numbered.
Include: All submissions should be accompanied by a cover email including a short bio or letter of introduction, a brief synopsis of the play and links to any work-related websites or social media pages.
