On Stage Mon 21 – Sun 27 November 2022
Listings for week ending Sunday 27 November 2022
Christmas must be just around the corner – the first of the big Christmas shows and the first pantomime of the season have their openings this week.
Before we get to the seasonal offerings though, it’s time to take in a bit of dance up at the Church Hill Theatre, where Lets Face the Music and Dance (Tue – Sat) is getting the sequins out and putting the moves together to make both a brilliant night’s entertainment, but also raise money for Leukaemia Care and Lupus UK.
Christmas is very much a time of sticking to tradition. So, while Scottish Ballet’s Snow Queen at the Festival Theatre (Ends Sat 10 Dec), the Lyceum’s adaptation of Dickens in An Edinburgh Christmas Carol (opens Thurs) and the Brunton’s home-grown panto production of Sinbad (opens Fri) will all have their elements of innovation, they are all very much in keeping with each venue’s annual Christmas offering.
Elsewhere, the Traverse has Cell Outs (Thurs – Sat), with two ex-prison officers using their real life experiences to create a dark comedy. While the ever-interesting Citadel Arts Group is making use of the Pianodrome at it’s new residency – inside Ocean Terminal – for a night of new writing, A Mannequin for All Seasons, on Saturday evening.
