Strictly star’s Midnight Dancer tour for Playhouse

Professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin, joint runner-up with Layton Williams in the 21st season of Strictly Come Dancing, is taking his first solo show, Midnight Dancer, out on UK tour in 2025.

Midnight Dancer will play three Scottish dates in 2025 with tickets on sale now. It will hit the Edinburgh Playhouse on Wednesday 26 March (tickets), Aberdeen Music Hall on Wednesday April 2 (tickets) and Glasgow’s SEC Armadillo the following night on Thursday 3 April (tickets).

Ukraine-born Kuzmin will be joined by a “sharp and chic cast of talented dancers and vocalists in a show like no other, jam-packed with the hits we all know and love in an evening bursting with happiness, euphoria and of course, world-class dance”, according to the pre-publicity.

Midnight Dancer is produced by the ROYO, the team behind Oti Mabuse: I Am Here and Johannes Radebe’s trilogy of sell out shows, Freedom, Freedom Unleashed and The House of JoJo.

Speaking of the new tour, Kuzmin said: “I think what people can expect from me in the dances is for it to be an experience. I want people to come and have a certain feeling of happiness and euphoria. We are going to bring loads of dancing but I also want to bring lots of joy.

“In terms of music we want to have hits that everyone knows and we want them to feel like they have had an experience – and a bit of a hit as well, so a bit of everything!”

Italian Champion

Kumin was born in Kyiv in 1997 and his family relocated to Italy when he was nine to support his sister’s dancing career. While there he became Italian Champion in Latin and Ballroom dance six times.

He moved to Germany aged 18, where he started working at fellow Strictly alumni Motsi Mabuse’s dance studio before landing a spot as a professional dancer on Let’s Dance – Germany’s version of Strictly – in 2020, appearing in one series.

He joined BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2021 for season 19, dancing with Tilly Ramsay. In 2022 he danced with Ellie Simmonds and in 2023 he reached the final with Layton Williams, finishing joint runners-up, alongside Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell. His social media feeds are currently full of pictures of early rehearsals for Strictly 2024.

Kuzmin was diagnosed with type one diabetes at the age of 13. He is a passionate and active campaigner around diabetes, inspiring those affected to not let it restrict them. His CGM sensor is often visible in his Strictly costumes and he works to raise a wider awareness around the condition.
