This is Our Story adds seven more performances

This is Our Story, the play about the 150-year history of Heart of Midlothian football club, has added a further seven performances at Tynecastle Park, following decisions on Hearts’ home fixture list for August.

Tickets are on sale (here) for the new run of performances from Thurs 8 to Mon 12 August, with shows at 7.30pm (not Sun 11) and matinees at 3pm on Fri 9 – Sun 11.

The production is the latest offering from Two Halves Productions which our reviewer Hugh Simpson described as “a hugely entertaining romp that is simply unmissable for any Hearts supporter,” giving it a rating of “★★★★☆ Glorious fun”.

The company’s previous productions – notably A War of Two Halves and Sweet FA – had a wide appeal, even to those with little interest in football. The current production – a whistle-stop tour through the history of Heart of Midlothian FC to mark their 150th anniversary – is produced in partnership with the club and is unashamedly pitched more directly at die-hard Jambos.

backdrop

This is Our Story is staged on a performance space built on scaffolding out over the lower half of the Main Stand at Tynecastle, built to look like the old Shed. The audience is seated in the Main Stand, looking down onto the stage – with the pitch and other stands as a backdrop.

This does mean that the production is open to the elements. Notably, the evening sun sets behind the Wheatfield Stand opposite. So if it is sunny, a hat/sunglasses and getting the sun cream on are recommended, particularly if you wish to sit near the stage.

The stage and front few rows are also open to any rain, so if the forecast is less clement, then suitable outdoor rainwear is advised. However, this is theatre and the show will go on, what ever the weather.
