Mamma Mia! Cast Announced
Now your Mamma knows…
Full casting has been announced for the UK tour of the ABBA jukebox musical Mamma Mia! which will be opening at the Edinburgh Playhouse in September.
Sharon Sexton, who originated the role of Sloane in Bat Out Of Hell, will play Donna Sheridan who runs a taverna on a remote Greek island. Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduate Emma Mullen will play her daughter Sophie, who is determined to find her father before getting married.
The show’s two week run at the Edinburgh Playhouse, from 19 to 28 September 2019, will be the first date of a UK Tour celebrating 20 years since Mamma Mia! premiered in London in April 1999.
Playing the roles of Donna’s best pals and the other ex members of Donna and the Dynamos, who have turned up at her Greek island taverna to help celebrate her daughter’s marriage, will be Nicky Swift as Rosie and Helen Naker who will be reprising the role of Tanya.
Toby Miles, who was nominated in the Stage’s 2018 Debut Awards for his role in Les Miserables will play Sophie’s intended, Sky.
Of the potential fathers who were all on intimate terms with Donna during the summer of love, Rob Fowler who was Falco in Bat out of Hell will play Sam Carmichael, Daniel Crowder will play Harry Bright and Jamie Kenna will take on the role of Bill Austin.
Of the other named roles, Sophie’s best friends and bridesmaids will be played by Marie Finlayson as Ali and Mariella Mazzilli as Lisa. James Willoughby Moore will play Pepper, the worker at the Taverna who had a fling with Tanya, Eamonn Cox will be Eddie and Matthew Ronchetti will play Father Alexander.
Completing the cast are Taylor Bridges, Ambra Caserotti, Martin Dickinson, Billy Downes, Katie Dunsden, Matt Kennedy, Lewis Kidd, Emma Odell, Blair Robertson, Kaine Ruddach, Ellie Rutherford, Chiara Sparkes, Amy Thiroff, Cameron Vear, Sarah Wilkie and Robert Knight.
The tour is booked through to August 2020 with dates in Bradford, Dublin, Newcastle, Southampton, Hull, Nottingham and Birmingham. It will tour to Glasgow King’s in April 2020.
