Jersey Boys Return
Hit musical working its way back to Playhouse
The tour of The Jersey Boys has announced new dates for the Edinburgh Playhouse in January and February 2023, with tickets on sale from 10am today, Friday 6 May 2022 (book here).
The show tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, from their beginnings the streets of New Jersey to the recognition of their success in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It will play the Playhouse from Tue 24 January to Saturday 4 February 2023.
Jersey Boys was last seen at the Playhouse in 2019 (★★★★☆ Jersey royal). It tells the story of Frankie Castelluccio – rechristened to Valli for marquee reasons – Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi over four seasons. Giving each a chance to tell their side of what happened.
“They were just four guys from New Jersey, until they sang their very first note. They had a sound nobody had ever heard – and the radio just couldn’t get enough. But while their harmonies were perfect on stage, off stage it was a very different story…”
The show uses the band’s hit songs – Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Oh What A Night, Walk Like A Man, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Working My Way Back To You and the rest – to tell that story in what is a superior jukebox musical. Albeit one with authentic New Jersey language which may not be suitable for younger audiences.
Jersey Boys is currently at the Glasgow King’s (to Saturday 7 May Book here). Following its Edinburgh dates it will continue to His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen, from Tue 7 – Sat 11 February 2023.
The show is also resident at the Trafalgar Theatre in London where it is currently booking through to October this year.
