FCTT board needs new blood
Festival City Theatres Trust board seeking new directors
By Thom Dibdin
The Board of the Festival City Theatres Trust has announced that it is looking to appoint two new directors in early 2014.
The two positions are falling vacant as directors stand down in March 2014, having competed their statutory five year stint.
The board is particular keen to find one new member with financial experience and another with experience of arts administration or fund-raising at a senior level.
FCTT manages the 1,300 seat Edinburgh King’s, 1,900 seat Festival theatre and the 200 seat Festival Studio.
The three venues stage a very broad range of productions throughout the year, from the local institutions of the King’s pantomime and Edinburgh Gang Show, to big touring productions such as War Horse at the Festival theatre and small dance productions at The Studio.
The three spaces currently play some 500 performances a year to over 400,000 audience members.
Duncan Hendry, chief executive of the Trust said: “With a strong interest in the performing arts in Edinburgh, the successful candidates will be strategic thinkers with previous board experience in the charitable or voluntary sector.
“More specifically we are seeking one director with financial experience (who will be a member of the finance and risk committee and will be asked to chair the audit committee) and one director with experience of arts administration or fund-raising at a senior level.”
The FCTT board meets approximately six times a year, with the finance and risk committee meeting another five times a year. The positions are unremunerated, although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
The closing date for applications is Thursday 23 January 2014 at 5pm, with interviews scheduled to be held in Edinburgh during the week commencing 3 February 2014.
