Invitation to Horror
Edinburgh Horror Festival 2024 submissions open
Organisers of the Edinburgh Horror Festival 2024, taking place over Halloween at the Banshee Labyrinth pub on Niddry Street, have put out an open call for submissions to this year’s event.
The Festival takes over four underground vault spaces in “Scotland’s Most Haunted Pub”. It is open to acts of almost any type. Theatre, musicals, magic, cabaret, comedy, storytelling, workshops, lectures, site-specific work and burlesque have been staged in previous years. However, it cannot accommodate film, live music, large circus, or fire performance.
EHF organiser Ash Pryce says: “Every year the Edinburgh Horror Festival opens its doors to creatives to bring their work to its stages. It is proud to have showcased hundreds of pieces over the years from experienced acts, students, recent graduates, professionals and grassroots creatives.
“They are able to stage work in a supportive environment that encourages people to try out ideas in an environment that perfectly matches the vibe of horror.”
The 2024 Edinburgh Horror Festival runs from Thursday 31 October to Sunday 3 November 2024 at the Banshee Labyrinth and online. All participants must be aged 18 or over on or before Tuesday 29 October 29 2024.

Participation costs for the festival are £50 for a four-date run, £13 for one date. Shows should be between 40 minutes and an hour long. In a change from previous years, audience members will need to have purchased a ticket before the show – rather than by donation on exit.
Pryce adds: “If you think you have an idea that could fit as part of a specifically horror-themed live arts festival in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, in spaces centuries old and dripping in spookiness, then submissions are open until May 1st.”
