EdFringe 2023 Call Out
Calling all Edinburgh-based theatre makers performing at this year’s fringe
Dear Edinburgh Theatre Community!
As the latest round of EdFringe tickets is announced, it is time for All Edinburgh Theatre to step up to the mark again, and attempt to compile a full listing of all theatre shows “Made in Edinburgh”.
I’ll be combing through Fringe’s ticket portal to try and find everyone. But I surely won’t be able to find you all.
So: If you are an Edinburgh-based theatre maker or theatre company and are putting on a show at the Fringe, please do get in touch.
The best way to do so it to send an email to alledinburghtheatre@gmail.com, but you can also slide us a DM on Twitter @AllEdinTheatre, Facebook @AllEdinburghTheatre or Instagram @alledinburghtheatre.
Headings
As in previous years, we will be listing shows under the headings of:
Theatre by Edinburgh’s Amateur companies
Theatre by Edinburgh’s Grassroots companies
Theatre by Edinburgh’s Youth & Student companies
Theatre by Edinburgh’s Professional & Funded companies
Edinburgh-made productions in the EdFringe Musical Theatre & Opera section.
Edinburgh-made productions in the EdFringe Children’s Theatre section.
Edinburgh-made productions in the EdFringe Dance, Cabaret & Spoken Word sections.
I’m afraid that we don’t have the capacity to cover comedy.
In 2023 we will again be working with EPAD to publish a list all the professional Edinburgh-based theatre makers in the 2023 Festivals.
This page on the All Edinburgh Theatre website might be useful. It also has links to all the listings pages from 2022.
Our email address is alledinburghtheatre@gmail.com
What to include?
Please do send me your full press releases.
Can you also self-identify for one of the various categories above, that we list shows under.
Can you also say whether you are eligible to be included in the EPAD listing of “professional Edinburgh-based theatre makers”. Do note that you can be a grassroots company and still be included in this listing.
If you can also send the basic listing, that would be *really* helpful.
Here’s an example of a listing:
She Wolf
Isla Cowan in association with Assembly Festival
Assembly Roxy (Venue 139)
3 – 29 Aug (not 15, 22): 13:50 (1 hour)
Winner of the 2022 Assembly ART Award and the Alpine Fellowship Theatre Prize. A fierce, ferocious monologue about getting f*cked over and fighting your way back. When Maggie’s life falls apart, becoming animal is only human.
Link to your listing on the EdFringe ticket site.
i.e:
Name of Show
Company Name
Name of Venue (EdFringe Venue #)
Dates being performed (exceptions): start time (show length)
50 word blurb.
Link to your listing on the EdFringe ticket site so people can buy tickets.
I really hope this is helpful and look forward to getting your listings.
Reviews
During the Fringe the All Edinburgh Theatre team will review as many Made in Edinburgh shows as is humanly possible. We are a small team and if you know of anyone who would like to join us, please get in touch – mentoring is available but we don’t pay anything, I’m afraid.
All the best
Thom Dibdin
Editor: All Edinburgh Theatre.
