Eddie Izzard for Festival Theatre

Wunderbar Edinburgh dates in October 2019

Eddie Izzard is to play the Edinburgh Festival Theatre in October 2019 as part of the UK leg of his international Wunderbar tour.

The cross dressing comedian who made his name at the Edinburgh Fringe in the 1990s says that the show which means Wonderful in English will be “more positive, while there is all this negative stuff in the world”.

Izzard is playing a residency in Paris this December, performing Merveilleux in French, before touring to Australia and New Zealand in February and then returning to tour continental Europe in April.

The 19 venue UK & Ireland leg of the tour opens on September 15 in Bexhill on Sea, visits the Glasgow King’s October 2 –  6 and arrives at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre for two nights on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 October 2019. It winds up in Dublin in November.



The tour comes five years after Izard’s Force Majeure became the most extensive comedy show ever when it toured to 45 countries, including all 50 US States, and was performed in four languages.

Wunderbar see Izzard going back to his roots with an all-new rather personal show which expands on his own very unique, totally surreal view of life, love, history and his ‘theory of the universe’

He says: “It is getting close to the time when I have to go off for a while to have a political life.

“But before I do that, I want to keep giving audiences around the world the best stand-up comedy shows that I can – especially at a time of Brexit-hate and Trump-hate.

“My new show is about everything from humans over the last 100,000 years to talking dogs and animal superheroes. I am looking forward to coming to see everyone again.”

Advance tickets will go on advance sale on Tuesday 27 November 2018 at 10am. General sale will start at 10am on Thursday 29 November 2018.
