Clue sets Edinburgh date
ISIHAC for Playhouse, March 2023
Tickets have gone on sale for the Official Stage Tour of I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue, playing one night only at the Edinburgh Playhouse on Sunday 12 March, 2023 (book here).
Regulars Jack Dee will be in the chair with Colin Sell at the piano for this best-of, theatre version of the long-running radio show, which pulls audiences of about 2.5 million for its recordings on Radio 4.
The panelists for the Edinburgh appearance of the “antidote to panel games” are expected to be Pippa Evans, Miles Jupp, Marcus Brigstocke and Rory Bremner.
Both Samantha and Sven have said that look forward to scoring at the Playhouse, although there will only be room for one of them to sit on Jack Dee’s left hand.
I’m Sorry I Haven’t Clue is a simple format. The chairman gives the four panelists silly things to do, with Colin Sell setting some of them to music. Since setting out in 1972 it has been billed as ‘the antidote to panel games’, although the panel games to which it was originally an antidote are now long gone.

The format of the touring show is a ‘Greatest Hits’ presentation, “sourcing the very finest material from Clue’s enormous archives (ably retrieved by Samantha and her two kindly archivist friends). The tour show looks just like a recording, feels like a recording and sounds like a recording. Audience members are also treated to their very own kazoo.”
The early Spring tour will take in Basingstoke, Woking, York, Sheffield and Scarborough before it arrives in Edinburgh. It will then move on to Cardiff, Swansea, Torquay and Wimbledon.
The Radio 4 recordings run for just under 30 minutes. However, the theatre outings have a running time of over two hours. This allows them to include the full range of fan favourites, from One Song to the Tune of Another to Cheddar Gorge, Mornington Crescent and more smutty double-entendres than you can shake a truffle at.
