Bugsy for FCT Easter show
Forth Children’s Theatre has put out an open casting call for its Spring 2017 production of the musical, Bugsy Malone.
The show will play Edinburgh Academy from Wednesday 5 April, for four nights, with auditions slated for Sunday 18 December 2016 at the Trinity Academicals Rugby Club.
The auditions are open to anyone aged 10-19 with a passion for acting, singing and dancing. All performers must become ten before opening night (Wednesday 5 April) to audition.
FCT’s Mark Gorman told Æ: “We chose Bugsy because we are expecting a much younger cast after 17 of our oldest kids left after Jesus Christ Superstar, so it is an opportunity for younger kids to star.”
If the company is moving on from last summer’s Edinburgh fringe hit – Æ’s Hugh Simpson called it “divine” in his five star review – there will be continuity as performers return to guide the new recruits.
Gorman continutes: “It’s being directed by Ben King who was in Superstar and the MD is Gus Harrower, who was winner of Scotland Rocks and is a long time cast member. Choreography will be by Natasha Rose who is another long time cast member”

The slapstick musical comedy, with Paul Williams’ words and music, is based on Alan Parker’s film of the same name. In New York, 1929, a war rages between two rival gangsters, Fat Sam and Dandy Dan. Dan is in possession of a new and deadly weapon, the dreaded – splurge gun.
As the custard pies fly, Bugsy Malone, an all-round nice guy, falls for Blousey Brown, a singer at Fat Sam’s speakeasy. His designs on her are disrupted by the seductive songstress Tallulah who wants Bugsy for herself.
