Bohemians seek MD & Director for EdFringe
Edinburgh’s Bohemian Lyric Opera Company has put out an open call for a Musical Director and a Creative Director for their annual Fringe concerts.
The company is currently in rehearsal for its production of The Wedding Singer: The Musical which plays the The King’s Theatre from Wednesday 20 – Saturday 23 March 2019.
The next items on its calendar are the annual fringe concerts, which will this year take place in the Stockbridge Parish Church on the evenings of Friday 9 and Saturday 10 August 2019, with an added matinee on the Saturday.
Weekly Tuesday rehearsals will commence at the beginning of May, once the exertions of The Wedding Singer are out of the way. There will also be some Sunday rehearsals as the show draws nearer.
Both the Musical Director and Creative Director will be paid roles and the company has a pack containing previous set lists, normal cast sizes and a brief summary of what style it normally does which it will send out to anyone interested.
biggest numbers
At EdFringe 2018 the company gave a canny and surprising twist to some of the biggest numbers in musical theatre in Bohemians Reimagined, it went From Broadway to Hollywood in 2017 and off on A Bohemians’ Rhapsody in 2015.
Regarding EdFringe 2019, a spokesperson for the company told Æ: “We have a few ideas for a theme – but we want to see what people bring to the interviews as well so don’t want to be too prescriptive.”
