Bernadette Peters to make Scottish debut in June
Bernadette Peters, the renowned interpreter of Steven Sondheim, is to make her Scottish debut in June 2016, with a performance at the Edinburgh Playhouse.
In a career spanning five decades, Peters has won three Drama Desk awards, three Tonies and a Golden Globe.
Her first ever Scottish date will take place at the Edinburgh Playhouse on Tuesday 7th June 2016, following nights at the Royal Festival Hall in London and the Manchester Opera House.
The Grammy and Emmy Award nominee is billed to: “perform timeless, signature songs from the multitude of iconic shows in which she has played some of her greatest stage roles, including Gypsy, Into the Woods and Sunday in the Park with George.
Renowned around the world as one of the foremost interpreters of Sondheim, Peters starred in the original Broadway productions of Into the Woods and Sunday in the Park with George and headlined the recent Broadway revivals of A Little Night Music and Follies.
Golden Globe
Peters currently stars in the new hit series, Mozart in the Jungle on Amazon Prime, having previously appeared in 33 films and TV movies, including Annie, Pink Cadillac and Pennies from Heaven, for which she won a Golden Globe.
Music direction for the series will be by Marvin Laird with sound design by Tom Sorce and lighting design by Lenny Cowles. This will be the first time that Peters has performed in the UK for 15 years.
