Beatle Life
Fringe 2015 Casting Opportunity
Edinburgh-based director Andy Corelli is on the hunt to cast the role of Neil Aspinall in A Life with the Beatles, the one-man show he is directing this fringe for Stella Danzante Productions.
Focusing on the the night the Beatles recorded A Day in the Life, the song which closes Sgt. Pepper, the play is formed of a monologue by Aspinall, who was The Beatles’ road manager until 1970 and then CEO of Apple Corps until 2007.
It tells the story of Aspinall’s personal involvement with The Beatles from 1961 until the band’s break up, including key episodes in the history of the band.
The play was written by Italian playwright Davide Verazzani and translated into English by Edinburgh-based Sabrina Macchi. Andy Corelli is Artistic Director of Edinburgh-based Siege Perilous.
A fee of £500 will be paid for the rehearsal period. Additionally, if the show makes a profit, this will be shared amongst the cast and crew.
Corelli said: “We are looking for an expressive actor with energy, imagination, physicality and musicality. As it’s the fringe, there will also be a requirement to market the show through enthusiastic daily flyering.”
Playing age of the character is 25 to 55 with ability to speak in a Liverpudlian/Scouse accent. Rehearsal will be for two weeks in July 2015, dates to be agreed, at St Margaret’s House, London Road, Edinburgh.
The production will be staged in Sweet, at 5.15pm (ending 6.15pm), from 6 – 30 August. No expenses will be paid, so the actor should be Edinburgh-based.
Auditions will be held at St Margaret’s House, London Road, Edinburgh on Saturday 18 April 2015 between 10am and 6pm. For consideration email CV and up-to-date photo to Andy Corelli at: arcangelo.jones@gmail.com.
