Double dose of Hannigan for Annie Tour
The recent West End production of Annie has announced a UK tour in 2019, playing the Edinburgh Playhouse in October and including both Anita Dobson and Craig Revel Horwood in the role of Miss Hannigan at different venues.
The production will open at the Manchester Opera House on Saturday 2 February 2019, touring to the Glasgow King’s in April where Anita Dobson will play Miss Hannigan and arriving at the Edinburgh Playhouse for the week Monday 30 September – Saturday 5 October 2019.

Set in 1930s New York during The Great Depression, brave young Annie is forced to live a life of misery and torment at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.
Determined to find her real parents, her luck changes when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the residence of famous billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. Spiteful Miss Hannigan has other ideas and hatches a plan to spoil Annie’s search.
The role of Miss Hannigan has been cast up to July 2019. Anita Dobson will play the role from the opening in Manchester up until the dates at the Bradford Alhambra ending 27 April.
Craig Revel Horwood will take over the from Tuesday 30 April at the Southampton Mayflower and play ten venues, up until the tour’s arrival at the Milton Keynes Theatre in the first week of July.
General casting and the role of Miss Hannigan from the Birmingham dates onwards will be announced in due course.
This production – directed by Nikolai Foster with set and costume design by Colin Richmond and choreography by Nick Winston – recently ran for an extended season in the West End following a tour of the UK and Ireland in 2015/16 as well as a recent sell-out season in Toronto.
Annie has Music by Charles Strouse, Lyrics by Martin Charnin and a Book by Thomas Meehan.
