Burke’s Wedding Date Confirmed
My Best Friend’s Wedding sets Edinburgh Date
Tickets are on sale for the rescheduled UK tour of My Best Friend’s Wedding, hitting the Edinburgh Playhouse in March 2022, and the Glasgow King’s in Feb 2022.
Alexandra Burke is to take the lead role of fiery food critic Julianne Potter in the tour of the musical rom com which is now scheduled to open in Manchester on 20 September 2021.
The tour will start throwing the posies around at His Majesty’s Theatre Aberdeen, Tue 12 – Sat 16 October 2021, and continue touring until it reaches Glasgow King’s from Mon 31 January – Sat 5 February 2022 and Edinburgh Playhouse Tue 29 March – Sat 2 April 2022.
Based on the film of the same name, with a book by Ronald Bass and Jonathan Harvey, the jukebox musical does Say a Little Prayer as it makes to Walk on By with some of Burt Bacharach and Hal David’s most iconic hits.
Alexandra Burke’s character, Julianne, has always turned her nose up at romance. It’s the reason she broke up with her sweetheart Michael O’Neal.
But when she hears he’s about to be married, she vows to win him back for good. But, with perfect Kimmy in the way, it’s not as easy as she first thought. Can she derail her best friend’s wedding in time and keep Michael all for herself?
Direction of the tour will be by Rachel Kavanaugh, who was artistic Director at the Birmingham Rep for five years. Other hits featured in the show include I’ll Never Fall in Love Again, I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself and What’s New Pussycat.
