What’s on Edinburgh’s stages this week…
A bit of a lull this week, with the theatre world seeming to take a big deep breath, hoping that the steps out of Covid restrictions continue to work.
School of Rock – The Musical
★★★★☆ Belting
Heads up pop pickers! School of Rock – The Musical, which grooves onto the Playhouse stage for a week until Saturday, is a big fat bundle of anarchic rocking-out and feel-good wish-fulfilment.
Legally Blonde – The Musical
★★★★☆ Sugar rush
Radiating the sheer enjoyment of being back in a theatre, Edinburgh University Savoy Opera Group’s production of Legally Blonde-The Musical is huge in scale, excellently put together, and full of sugary goodness.

Hidden Door posts call out for theatre at this year’s festival
The Hidden Door festival has posted a call out to commission three new pieces of work from emerging theatre makers and details of how existing work can apply to be part of this year’s event.

Eusog return to live with “biggest” show ever
The first of Edinburgh’s Amateurs out on stage following this coming Monday’s lifting of the audience Covid cap will be Eusog with its “biggest production ever” – Legally Blonde the Musical.

Unhidden: It’s the Old Royal High
Hidden Door Festival to take over old Royal High School
The old Royal High School, on Calton Hill, is to be taken over by Edinburgh’s innovative pop-up festival Hidden Door, for a ten day event running from Thursday 9 to Saturday 18 June 2022.
