Noel Jordon joins Imaginate as Festival Director

Imaginate, the creative development organisation for children’s theatre, has announced that Noel Jordon will join the company in the newly created role of Festival Director.

Jordon joins Paul Fitzpatrick who is the Executive Director of the company. The role of overall director was split when Tony Reekie left the organisation last year and the new Festival Director post is a curatorial one.

Best known for a groundbreaking seven year tenure as curator of programmes for children and young people at the Sydney Opera House, from 2003 to 2010, Noel Jordon will join the Imaginate team in October.

Speaking of his appointment, Jordon said: “I am thrilled and honoured at the invitation to work with the dedicated team who stage the festival each May. As the incoming Festival Director I look forward to building on the strengths and leadership of Tony Reekie. Tony’s award winning legacy has been inspirational.”

Jordon is currently a producer at the Sidney, Australia-based company Performing Lines which develops, produces and tours new and innovative Australian performing arts regionally, nationally and internationally. Before that, he was education manager at the Melbourn Theatre Company and the artist director at South Australia’s Come Out Festival, the largest festival for children and young people in Australia.
