Annual chance for youngsters to join LYAMC

Youngsters aged between eight and 25 are invited to the open auditions for the Lothian Youth Arts and Musicals Company, taking place this Sunday, 18 Jan 2015.

Founded in 1998 the main objective of LYAMC is to make musical theatre fun for 120 youngsters every year, aged 8 to 25.

Auditions

According to the LYAMC: “We seek to develop, educate and encourage young people in various aspects of the performing arts. The company has developed into a high profile organisation that consistently achieves excellent production standards.”

The auditions are open to girls and boys under the age of 25 who will have had their eighth birthday before February  1, 2015. They take place on Sunday, 18 January 2015, at St Michael’s Church on Slateford Road. Registration is at 1.30pm and auditions will finish between 3.30pm and 5pm.

According to the calling notice: “We will teach the children a song and dance, during a short workshop session, so there is no need to prepare anything in advance. The children then perform the dance in small groups and will then be called in small groups or individually to sing in front of our production team audition panel.

“Decisions will be made following all auditions and children will be notified by email if they have successfully gained a place in LYAMC. Unfortunately there is no space for parents to wait at the auditions.

“Please bring water with you and ensure that you are dressed in comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for the dance workshop.”
