✭✭✭✩✩   Very mad

Junior review by Cora Dibdin

This was a play of Alice in Wonderland done by teenagers. I have read the book and I liked it. It was mad.

Alice in Wonderland is mad but this was really mad. Alice was practising for her exams then people ran on and Alice fell down the rabbit hole and it was mad.

PortyYouthTheatreI liked that there was more than 20 people and they were all teenagers. There was a lot of movement and shapes. There was some music but there wasn’t singing.

There was a boy who was a doorknob and he was funny. I liked the caterpillar. I thought it was a spider but it was a caterpillar who had bubbles. The girl at the beginning when Alice was practising for her test was quite good. The bunny rabbit was good. I liked that it was Mr Rabbit but it was a girl who played him. I thought she did really well.

My favourite scene was where they were playing croquet. The pack of cards were the stands where the ball goes under and the queen hit the ball with a flamingo. The person who was the ball must have been very dizzy after that.

Alice didn’t shut her eyes. Her sister walked away still reading but it didn’t make me think that Alice hd fallen asleep at all. I didn’t know until the end when she woke up. Some people are from Alice Through the Looking Glass, like Tweedledum and Tweedledee.

I liked the dormouse singing “Twinkle twinkle little bat”. At the court the queen said “that’s the most important information we’ve heard all day”. I thought that was funny.
